Verald A. (Tony) Drake
Tony Drake grew up in southern California in rural Los Angeles County and graduated from Monrovia High School. Tony has had a long and distinguished military career including three tours of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. After serving for 20 years on active duty, Tony retired from the United States Army and began working at Metroplex Adventist Hospital in Killeen as a maintenance work order manager for engineering and as the hospital safety officer.
Tony has served in a variety of capacities for the First Baptist Church of Harker Heights as a Sunday school teacher, the Sunday school director, training union director, music director, bus ministry driver/director, and resource center facilitator. Tony received his ordination as a Deacon in 1986 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Deacon Ministry Program, whose purpose is to provide for the spiritual and physical needs of the church members. Tony's goal for this program is to find those men with the guidance of the Holy Spirit who will dedicate themselves to this ministry.
Tony's vision for the First Baptist Church of Harker Heights is to provide community outreach through Visitation, Vacation Bible School, and the Bread of Life Ministry in order to bring the Gospel into the lives of our neighbors in the Harker Heights community.
