Rene Berkhoudt

Rene Berkhoudt is a retired federal land manager and was the Deputy State Director of Business Resources for the U.S. Department of Interior for a four state region.  Rene was also formerly the State Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Bureau of Land Management in Santa Fe, New Mexico charged with oversight of Information Resource Management (IRM) for the agency.

 

Most recently Rene Berkhoudt was the Monument Manager of the 1.9 million acre Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in southern Utah before retiring in 2014.  Rene remains active in environmental education as the Vice President of the Central Texas Master Naturalist Chapter.  Rene also sits on the governing board of the Miller Springs Nature Center in Belton and was selected to serve on the advisory group for the City of Temple Parks and Recreation Department for the Bend of the River Park.  Rene Berkhoudt is also a member of the Killeen Civic Art Guild and the Central Texas Woodcarvers Association and serves as the web master and public affairs officer for the First Baptist Church of Harker Heights.  

 

Rene is married to Elizabeth Berkhoudt, who is the Director of the Bread of Life Ministry for the First Baptist Church of Harker Heights.  Together they have one adult daughter, Andrea Bernadette who is a Middle School teacher in Virginia.
